The Great Dictator

Criterion 24/7 coming in timely with this 1940 Charlie Chaplin masterpiece. It hits a little different in November 2024 than when I'd seen it before. There are legitimately funny bits, a terrifyingly spot-on imitation of Hitler and some impressive heroism and artistry, especially considering this movie was made well before the United States entered WWII. Did I cry during the final speech? Absolutely. It wasn't a balm for these times but I wished everyone could watch it anyway.
